Presidential election – voting cards can now be applied for

On October 9, the people of Salzburg can cast their votes for the candidates for the federal presidential election at 522 polling stations in the state. Anyone who is prevented from voting on the day of the election or who cannot go to the polling station can also vote using an absentee ballot.

392,612 people are entitled to vote in Salzburg for the upcoming presidential election. Voting is possible in Austria from the age of 16. Around seven percent can vote for the first time in a federal presidential election. If you are unable to cast your vote at the polling station on election day, you can do so in advance using a voting card. This can be requested online or directly in the municipality where you live. This must be done in writing by October 5th, in person it is possible until October 7th, 12 noon. In order to be counted, voting cards must be received by a district electoral authority or a polling station during opening hours by October 9. Flachgau has the most eligible voters with 114,805 (1,172 of whom live abroad), followed by the state capital with 96,446. In Pinzgau there are 63,746, in Pongau 58,202, in Tennengau 43,442 and in Lungau 15,971.
