Presidential: Eric Zemmour earns money, but no sponsorships

Confirming information fromEurope 1, Eric Zemmour’s entourage thus claimed Thursday from LCI to have collected about 9 million euros for the presidential campaign on December 31, 2021. This money would come from donations and memberships to the Reconquest party, which would have 75,000 members. However, this declarative amount is impossible to verify.

According to information from LCI, the candidate also wishes to borrow money from a banking institution. If the banks were cautious to lend to the polemicist, “with 9 to 10 million euros, we can already have a good campaign”, reassures one of his relatives.

But at the same time, Eric Zemmour admitted to being in difficulty in his harvest of sponsorships from elected officials, claiming to rely on “300 promises” of sponsorships at this stage. “It is at the same time a lot because we have no elected officials, but at the same time it is nothing since 500 are needed and everyone tells us that we need 600, even 700 (promises) because people retract at the last moment “, he confessed.

The polemicist called for a helping hand from the Association of Mayors of France (AMF). “I am making a call to David Lisnard”, the chairman of the AMF. “I suggest that he ask the mayors to make a ‘pool’ of signatures and give the signatures to all the candidates who are at least, I don’t know, at 5 or 8% in the polls, it is he who will decide . That the names (of the mayors) do not mean anything any more since it will be decided by all the mayors. I think that it would be a democratic measure and I do not speak only for myself “, he estimated.

Later in the day, Davis Lisnard recalled that his association had no competence in the matter. “The rule of sponsorship of candidates for the presidential election is the sole legislative competence, in this case the organic law, therefore the competence of the government and the Parliament”. Also, he stressed that his association “never gives a directive to its members, in any area” and that she “cannot replace them in the exercise of their powers”.

On December 1, the sovereignist’s sponsorship manager told LCI that he had collected 270 signatures and explained that he was relying in his mission on a network of “500 to 600 ambassadors throughout the national territory, organized around departmental and regional referents”. The sponsorship collection officially starts on January 30, until March 4, the deadline for their submission.
