After the re-election of Emmanuel Macron, Jean-Luc Mélenchon welcomed the defeat of Marine Le Pen, but did not spare Emmanuel Macron. He believes that Macron was re-elected thanks to abstention and calls for him to be beaten in the legislative elections, thanks to a popular union which must “expand”, according to him.

Emmanuel Macron was re-elected this Sunday evening President of the Republic, facing Marine Le Pen. Satisfied with this victory, the Insoumis Jean-Luc Mélenchon called on left-wing voters “to beat Emmanuel Macron during the third round (the legislative elections)” and wishes “the enlargement of the popular union”.

Re-elected with 58% of the vote, but with possible record abstention (28% according to Opinion Way for CNews and Europe 1, the worst score since 1969), Jean-Luc Mélenchon believes that Emmanuel Macron is “the worst elected President of the Fifth Republic”, before explaining that “his presidential monarchy only survives by default”.

Mélenchon turned “towards the third round” and the post of Prime Minister

The rebellious candidate did not hesitate to tackle certain proposals from candidate Macron, in particular that on the RSA: “People who benefit from the RSA will work for free for 20 hours”, he analyzes. To doom the policy of Emmanuel Macron, Jean-Luc Mélenchon calls on his voters not to “resign themselves” and “to take action”. With a clear objective: the legislative elections scheduled for June. “The third round starts tonight. You can beat Mr. Macron and choose another path,” he said.

“Another world is still possible if you elect a majority of the deputies of the new union which must enlarge”, he added. A clear message to other left-wing candidates in the first round, such as Yannick Jadot, Fabien Roussel or Anne Hidalgo.
