Presidential: Macron’s first meeting scheduled for April 2

IThe date of Emmanuel Macron’s first meeting is finally known. After being forced to cancel that of Marseille scheduled for early March due to the war in Ukraine, the outgoing president will hold his first campaign rally on Saturday April 2 at 3:30 p.m. at La Défense, in the Paris La Défense Arena room, the largest in Europe with its 40,000 seats. Since entering the campaign, the president-candidate had contented himself with two public meetings in Poissy and Pau with 250 and 600 people, as well as a press conference. This meeting promises to be one of the biggest in the electoral campaign, of which Emmanuel Macron remains the big favorite for the first as well as for the second round.

His opponents have also organized few meetings, but 18 days from the first round, several are betting on large outdoor gatherings: the Insoumis candidate Jean-Luc Mélenchon gathered tens of thousands of supporters in Paris on Sunday and his rival from extreme right Éric Zemmour intends to do the same on March 27 at the Trocadéro.

Emmanuel Macron is given the lead with 29.5% of voting intentions, ahead of Marine Le Pen (17.5%) and Jean-Luc Mélenchon (13%), both in rising momentum, unlike Valérie Pécresse (9.5%) and Éric Zemmour (11%), according to the Ipsos Sopra-Steria “rolling” survey published on Tuesday.
