Presidential: Marine Le Pen and Eric Zemmour reach 500 sponsorships, where are the other candidates?

There are three days left for the contenders for the Élysée, that is to say until Friday March 4, to collect and present the 500 sponsorships to the Constitutional Council, necessary to present themselves in the first round of the presidential election, the next April 10. As such, the president of the MoDem, François Bayrou had indicated that his “sponsorship bank” had garnered the support of 365 signatories. A reserve that would therefore have served far-right candidates well.

Who are the trailing candidates?

But this “bank” would not have benefited the former Keeper of the Seals. Christiane Taubira, winner of the Popular Primary on January 30, has only 181 signatures this Tuesday, March 1. The candidate had however devoted herself all last week to “collecting sponsorships”. Philippe Poutou, the candidate of the New Anti-Capitalist Party, has 342 supporters, or 99 more signatures in five days. At this rate, the far-left candidate could collect the missing 158 signatures.

Other candidates are still far from having collected all the signatures. François Asselineau, the president of the Republican People’s Union, is halfway there with 263 signatures. Anasse Kazib, of the Permanent Revolution party, only presents 144 signatures. It is a little less for Hélène Thouy who collects 114 supporters. The animalist party candidate had indicated on February 25 that she would “probably” not have the 500 sponsorships.
