During a speech before the Confederation of Small and Medium Enterprises (CPME), Wednesday in Puteaux, the candidate of the Republicans Valérie Pécresse was sprayed with pink powder by two people from the militant collective Akira. “We wanted to put a little color in this campaign,” said the collective.

Valérie Pécresse should not really expect such a welcome. Wednesday morning, during her speech at the headquarters of the Confederation of Small and Medium Enterprises (CPME) in Puteaux, in the Hauts-de-Seine, the Republican candidate for the presidential election was sprayed with pink powder. These are two people, claiming to be from the revolutionary collective Akira, who are at the origin of this gesture.

Traces of powder on Valérie Pécresse’s jacket and face

As she spoke to representatives of small and medium enterprises, Valérie Pécresse received powder from a “young man sitting in the audience from the start”, says journalist Marie Gentric in a tweet. In his video, we can see pink traces on the jacket, as well as on the face of the candidate, who tries to get rid of it.

At his side, the president of the CPME, François Asselin, also received this famous pink powder.

“It’s not just Zemmour who deserves eggs”

The motivations for this move remain somewhat obscure. “We think it’s not just Zemmour who deserves eggs,” said the collective, in a nod to the candidate of the Reconquest party! who received an egg on his head on Saturday in Moissac, in Tarn-et-Garonne. And the collective added that it wanted to “put a little color in this campaign.”

After this impromptu event, Valérie Pécresse’s campaign team announced that the candidate will not, however, file a complaint.
