Pretty Little Liars: Planned reboot of the mystery series

The series "Pretty Little Liars" returns. "Riverdale" creator Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa is working on a reboot of the mystery series.

There are seven seasons of the successful US series "Pretty Little Liars", and it finally ended in 2017. Now Warner Bros. Television is apparently planning a reboot of the mystery series, as reported by the US trade journal "Variety". No less a person than "Riverdale" creator Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa (47) is to develop the new edition. The new edition is therefore still at a very early stage.

What details are known?

Allegedly, the reboot should include new characters and new stories. However, exact details are not yet known. Leslie Morgenstein and Gina Girolamo are believed to be executive producers. At the moment it is not known whether "Pretty Little Liars" – maker I. Marlene King (58) will be involved in the new edition. According to "Variety", no broadcaster has yet secured the rights to the project. It is considered likely that the remake will air on HBO Max. After all, the streaming service belongs to the parent company WarnerMedia.

"Pretty Little Liars" started in 2010 and ended after 160 episodes from seven seasons in 2017. There have already been two spin-offs of the series: "Pretty Little Liars: The Perfectionists" (2019) and "Ravenswood" (2013) . However, both offshoots could not build on the success of the original and were discontinued after only one season.
