Preview: Cult figure "Perry Mason" returns in July

The legendary defense lawyer "Perry Mason" returns in a mini series in July. It's not the only series tip for this month.

The new HBO series "Perry Mason" tells the beginning of the legendary defense lawyer. Actor Matthew Rhys (45, "The Americans") slips into the title role and investigates as a private investigator in the depths of Los Angeles in the 1930s. The character Perry Mason was created by US author Erle Stanley Gardner (1889-1970). The character achieved cult status through the portrayal of Raymond Burr (1917-1993), who embodied Perry Mason in a series (1957-1966) and numerous TV films. Sky shows "Perry Mason" from July 31, shortly after the world premiere, at 8:15 p.m. on Sky Atlantic HD, as well as on demand.

As of July 30, the sitcom "Single Parents" provides a lot of insights into the life of single parents. Singles include US comedy star Taran Killam (38, "Saturday Night Live") and Leighton Meester (34, "Gossip Girl"). From July 30, the series will be available on Thursdays at 8:15 p.m. on Sky One as a German first broadcast and in parallel on Sky Ticket in Germany, Sky Go and via Sky Q on demand.

Joyn has secured the first season of the mystery drama series "Nancy Drew". The sudden death of her mother confuses the future plans of amateur detective Nancy Drew (Kennedy McMann, 23). Because of this loss, she does not go to university and stops working as an investigator. When a murder occurs in her hometown Horseshoe Bay, Nancy and four other teenagers are suspected of murder. To rehabilitate themselves, the five suspects go in search of the real murderer. The first season will be available exclusively on Joyn PLUS + from July 30th.

The Amazon series "Bosch", of which there are already six seasons, is coming to German free TV. Titus Welliver (58) plays the title character, the loner Hieronymus "Harry" Bosch. The former soldier solves crimes as a detective commissioner in Los Angeles – and has his own methods. The first season shows cable one in double episodes from July 4th every Saturday from 11:15 p.m.

Germany is in a state of emergency in the eight-part drama series "8 days". The asteroid "Horus" is to hit Earth in eight days in the middle of Europe, in La Rochelle. As the mission to destroy the asteroid fails, panic breaks out and millions of people are on the run. Uli (Mark Waschke, 48) and Susanne Steiner (Christiane Paul, 46) want to flee to supposedly safe Russia with their two children. The mini-series celebrates its free TV premiere in ZDFneo from Friday, July 10, 10:40 p.m.

VOX brings the fifth season "Outlander" to free TV. From July 22nd, the episodes will premiere in double episodes every Wednesday from 8:15 p.m. How are things going with Jamie (Sam Heughan, 40) and Claire (Caitriona Balfe, 40)? Jamie is said to be ambushing and killing Murtagh Fitzgibbons for William Tryon, Governor of North Carolina. But Jamie struggles and has to hide the real connection to his godfather Fitzgibbons from Tryon. "Stateless" will be available from July 8th. Four foreigners cross paths in an Australian immigrant camp. A plagued woman, a desperate refugee, a bureaucrat and a father meet. In the Australian series, which was presented at the Berlinale 2020 in Germany, Oscar-winner Cate Blanchett (51, "Blue Jasmine"), Yvonne Strahovski (37, "The Handmaid's Tale – The Report of the Maid"), Jai Courtney (34 , "Suicide Squad") and Dominic West (50, "The Affair") with.

"Dead girls don't lie" star Katherine Langford (24) returns to Netflix in a new role. "Cursed" is a reinterpretation of the Arthurian saga. In it, Katherine Langford plays the teenage girl Nimue, who goes with the mercenary Arthur (Devon Terrell, 27) in search of Merlin (Gustaf Skarsgard, 39), to whom she is to bring an ancient sword. "How to Sell Drugs Online (Fast)" will start its second round on July 21st.
