Landscape architect Katja Hartmann is found dead in the forest. Commissioner Robert Winkler (Kai Scheve) and his colleague Karina Szabo (Lara Mandoki) investigate in the circle of the Bergmannsorchester Schneeberg. Here Katja played the horn player, as did the forester Saskia Bergelt (Teresa Weißbach), who provides knowledgeable support for the investigation. When questioning the orchestra members, some musicians become the focus of the investigation. Both Heidi Köhler (Esther Zimmering), who plays the tenor horn like Katja, and Thomas Majewski (Florian Panzner), tuba player and Katja’s irascible ex-boyfriend, had argued with the murder victim.

The Barden Bellas a cappella team loses almost all members after a disastrous championship performance. These include her deputy Chloe (Brittany Snow) and Fat Amy (Rebel Wilson), among others. Also in the mixed bunch is the cool Beca (Anna Kendrick), who ends up in the a cappella singing group by accident. Together they finally want to defeat their biggest competitors, the “Trebelmakers” – consisting only of boys – in the big a cappella singing competition.
