In “Mission: Impossible – Phantom Protocol” (ProSieben) a bomb attack is carried out on the Kremlin. ZDF shows the carnival show “Mainz remains Mainz, how it sings and laughs”. On arte, the “good cop” finds out that he doesn’t have long to live.

Top agent Ethan Hunt (Tom Cruise) is freed from a Russian prison by Jane Carter (Paula Patton) and Benji Dunn (Simon Pegg). The team launches an undercover mission to search for information in the Moscow Kremlin’s high-security archives. The goal of the Impossible Mission Force is to identify the terrorist Cobalt (Mikael Nyqvist). The order turns out to be a trap. Cobalt blows up large parts of the Kremlin with a bomb, which Russia interprets as an act of war on the part of the Americans. The USA is forced to use the “Phantom Protocol” and to deny any knowledge about the activities of the IMF.

The television session from Mainz has been a highlight for carnivalists across the country for decades. In 2024, ZDF will broadcast the traditional event from the Electoral Palace. Chairman of the meeting Andreas Schmitt presents the best speakers and singers from MCV, MCC, KCK and GCV and the mix of “Kokolores” and political-literary carnival that is so typical of Mainz.

Chief Inspector Fredo Schulz (Armin Rohde) receives a surprising diagnosis: the doctor tells him that he has colon cancer and only has three months to live. He should do something nice. “What’s that supposed to be?” Fredo asks himself and goes to work. He and his colleague Radu Lupescu (Sabin Tambrea) are called to an apartment block where a security guard has been shot. He accompanied the owner Samir Berri (Husam Chadat), who is planning to clear and renovate the apartment block. Fredo has already arrested Samir once – for drug trafficking. He suspects that Samir is just laundering money with his supposedly clean real estate transactions.

Uwe Kockisch alias Guido Brunetti has to recognize his own limits in his 26th case: The Venetian inspector is burned out by his grueling work and urgently needs rest after a bout of weakness in the Questura. But even while he is sick, the idealistic investigator sets out to solve the mysterious death of a beekeeper who had quickly become a particularly close friend to him. A vague suspicion of murder, evidence of an environmental scandal and an old secret ensure that Brunetti carries out his own investigation and puts his health at risk.
