Greg Focker (Ben Stiller) is a Chicago nurse who comes from a poor Jewish family. At a family weekend with the parents of his girlfriend Pam (Teri Polo), he wants to propose to her. But he didn’t count on Pam’s father (Robert De Niro): For the conservative former CIA agent, nobody is good enough for his daughter. He relentlessly puts his future son-in-law to the test. Greg is completely insecure, desperately trying to win the sympathy of Pam’s family and clumsily blundering into one blunder after the other.

Many years have passed since Tarzan (Alexander Skarsgård) left the African jungle. Now he has received an offer from the British Parliament to go to the Congo as a special ambassador for trade issues. He has no idea that he is being used as a means to an end, because Captain Leon Rom (Christoph Waltz) wants to exploit Tarzan’s homeland out of greed and revenge.

Adria, Rimini 1971: That was an unforgettable holiday for school friends Helmut (Karl Fischer), Peter (Rainer Bock), Edgar (Bernhard Schütz) and Peter’s sister Josefine. However, the friendship broke up after the Rimini holiday – and meanwhile, after 40 years, there is nothing left but one or the other meeting to play skat. But now Helmut is faced with the ruins of his life: Josefine, his wife and great love since that holiday in Italy, has died. Daughter Fritzi (Miriam Maertens), the two friends and Maria (Lena Stolze), Peter’s wife, have come to help with the move from the Munich villa. When Maria brings a last letter that Josi wrote shortly before her death, she unintentionally triggers an emotional chaos that turns everyone’s life upside down.

Olivia (Jennifer Aniston) doesn’t know where she wants to go in life. She is in her late thirties, single – and has just quit her job as a teacher to work as a cleaning lady. Everything seems to be going well in the lives of their wealthy friends Jane (Frances McDormand), Christine (Catherine Keener) and Franny (Joan Cusack). And yet the four friends wonder if they are happy or unhappy. Money – regardless of whether they have a lot or a little of it – plays a role in this.

Carsten Niemeyer (Mario Klischies) falls off the balcony while viewing an apartment and dies immediately. No competitor seems to have seen anything. The “strong team” takes up the investigation. Otto (Florian Martens) and Linett (Stefanie Stappenbeck) find out that Niemeyer was awarded the apartment on the spot because he had bribed the real estate agent. The team suspects revenge as a motive. Then a daycare center manager is murdered who had scarce daycare places to allocate.
