PREVIEW Resident Evil 4 VR mode: heart attack in sight, the experience is crazy!

Resident Evil 4 was treated to a gripping and fun remake, which plunges into a dark and oppressive universe. Sony Interactive Entertainment shake hands once again Capcom to release an exclusive VR mode on PS5 and PSVR 2. It is during the Tokyo Game Show that we were able to try this somewhat offbeat experience. First point to take into account, it was a trial version for the event so, unsurprisingly, the final edition will certainly be different.

It’s super enjoyable!

Anyway, we can tell you that the graphics are truly explosive. We had fun looking around us, we confirm that it is neat, clean and pleasant to look at. Something that was able to tantalize our peepers: the play of lights. At the start of the game, when you reach the first house, the rays of the moon dazzle the pupils, it is very impressive.

Concerning gameplay, it’s responsive and dynamic. We control the hands of Leon, and we have to gesticulate in all directions to retrieve a weapon, obtain objects or open a door. When our gun runs out of bullets, we must take a magazine from our bag (located on our hips) and insert it into the stock. There is a little realistic side which amuses, you would have understood it. The knife can be handled in any way. Toss it in the sky, catch it, and throw it at an enemy’s head, while shooting around you… Yes, we can think of ourselves as John Wickit’s super enjoyable!

And the travel in all this? No teleportation during our session, we had fluid movements with the ability to turn the camera 30 degrees. No desire to vomit, the rendering helps a lot so as not to feel nauseous. But there is no doubt that various options will be available in the final version so that everything adapts to everyone’s feelings.

These few minutes spent with Resident Evil 4’s VR mode (which will be free by the way) knew how to excite us. The universe is basic scary and stressful on a screen in flatso imagine going to meet the Villagers or even Colmillos in virtual reality… Such a rendering allows you to rediscover this production and to “really” see what the disgusting monsters of this funny and crazy remake look like. As Resident Evil Village, the experience will be totally different. Finally, certain parameters were not activated during our test, namely theEye Tracking or even the vibrations, but we are extremely looking forward to discovering the game in this aspect in 2024.
