In “The Commissioner and the Lake” (ZDF) a trans woman is murdered. Two families want to escape from the GDR in “Ballon” (The First). In “Knight and Day” (RTL) Tom Cruise and Cameron Diaz have to flee from enemy agents.
8:15 p.m., ZDF, The Commissioner and the Lake: Freedom of Fools, crime thriller
Werner Eberle, chairman of the Schellengeist fools’ guild in Lindau, has died. He is carried to his grave in colorful robes and masks, and his followers celebrate exuberantly in a small restaurant. But a drunken fool behaves inappropriately towards Kaja Johansen (Ilonka Petruschka). When the young woman defends herself, it becomes clear to the band of fools that she is a trans woman. The next morning, Kaja Johansen is found dead in the fountain in the old town. A new case for Robert Anders (Walter Sittler) begins.

The Strelzyk family longs for freedom and wants to be part of the sealed-off Stasi regime Escape from the GDR. Since the escape will be prosecuted, the Strelzyks decide to pursue a risky plan: they want to secretly cross the border to the West using a self-made hot air balloon. When their plan fails, a nerve-wracking game of hide-and-seek begins.

Jamal Randolph (Shane Paul McGhie) has never had an easy life. Growing up in the American foster care system, he was placed by an agency with adoptive parents who abused him for years. Now he wants to hold the agency responsible for standing by while he endured all the suffering. For the trial, he is assigned the experienced lawyer Michael Trainer (Matthew Modine), who actually has no interest in the case that was forced on him by the judge in charge.

Shrek and Fiona are happily married. When Shrek’s father-in-law Harold falls ill, Shrek is reluctantly made king. At the airport, June (Cameron Diaz) meets the charming Roy (Tom Cruise). What initially seems like a harmless flirtation turns out to be a staged game: Roy is a tough secret agent, and June is soon drawn into his turbulent mission. While Roy is pursued not only by the FBI and the CIA, but also by the Spanish Mafia, June becomes his unwilling accomplice.
