PREVIEW The Crew Motorfest: towards new horizons?

After two nice first parts, Ubisoft And Ivory Tower will soon be back with The Crew Motorfest, a new arcade racing game with cars of all kinds. A title eagerly awaited by fans of the genre, which should change the formula, and we were able to get a glimpse of it during a long session recently, via Parsec.

Enjoyable sensations of speed and freedom.

We indeed spent a few hours on Oahu (like Drive Unlimited review), an island of Hawaii obviously revisited to offer an open-world playground, on which the goal is to speed along on land, at sea and even in the air. Controller in hand, we explored a few roads on the island, the opportunity to quickly discover that the driving sensations are in the pure line of the franchise. The Crew : it’s ultra arcade, easy to handle and the sensations are immediate, the virtual driver warms up the engine and reaches impressive speeds in a few seconds, it slips and it skids, it doubles of course, until the finish line. If the pride of place is given to cars, it is also possible to drive motorcycles, but also boats and planes, and to change the type of vehicle on the fly.

Exhilarating driving sensations during the races, but also outside, because The Crew Motorfest allows us to leave the asphalt to explore the corners of Oahu freely. An open world which is obviously reminiscent of the Forza Horizon of Playground Games, with the same attention to detail in the varied environments and biomes, even on a relatively small map. And to vary these pleasures, the developers have created playlists, races with specific vehicles to embark on crazy races. For example, we find a playlist dedicated to Porsche 911 (and there are loads of them), Japanese cars for city trips, electric racing cars or even retro vehicles, covering several generations with cult models to criss-cross the different areas of the island. Enough to discover lots of tracks and cars, offering thrilling sensations of speed and freedom.

And these playlists are just the appetizers of The Crew Motorfestthey are there to introduce us to Oahu and the vehicles (more than 500), before unlocking a new sector end game. A kind of multiplayer and community hub to engage in challenges, especially weekly challenges to increase your reputation and become a pilot Legendenough to ensure a long life for months and months.
