Lukas Geier (Philipp Hochmair), a former detective who once helped people live under new identities, has retreated to the Austrian Alps, near Bad Gastein, to start a new life. But when a woman is found dead in room 11 of a hotel on the lake, he is in danger. The dead woman, a clerk, wife and mother, was murdered with a stiletto. While Inspector Franziska Conte (Julia Koch) from Salzburg is faced with a mystery, Lukas is personally threatened because his cell phone number, which was written in ballpoint pen, is written on the arm of the corpse.

Several women’s bodies are discovered in the dunes near Husum. They have been doctored and tattooed, making the murders seem particularly macabre. The young detective Ria Larsen (Karoline Schuch) unexpectedly takes over the lead of the investigation, much to the astonishment of her experienced colleague Mattern (Ronald Kukulies). In addition to public pressure, Ria also has to assert herself within her team. Only her colleague Michael Brandt (Christoph Letkowski) supports her unconditionally.

An undercover agent, called the “Protagonist” (John David Washington), is recruited for the secret CIA project “Tenet”. In the process, he discovers a method of moving objects and people backwards in time – a so-called inversion. This technique turns out to be a threat from the future, led by the Russian arms dealer Andrei Sator (Kenneth Branagh). Together with his new partner Neil (Robert Pattinson), the protagonist sets out to thwart Sator’s plans and save the world from a possible war.
