Notice to cinema lovers: this year, the Royan Film Festival is back for a 3rd edition and is once again shining the spotlight on feature films that raise important social issues. Ask for the program!

Royan Film Festival

From December 6 to 10, 2023, the 3rd edition of the Royan Film Festival will be held, an event which each year highlights works that invite us to analyze society through the eyes of filmmakers. This will be an opportunity for spectators to discover around twenty feature films in preview and to meet the teams of some of these films. We reveal the program to you!

During these 5 days of celebration of cinema, seven films carefully chosen by the organizers will be in competition: Me Captain by Matteo Garrone, The Life of My Mother by Julien Carpentier, The New Woman by Léa Todorov, Innocence by Kore-eda Hirokazu, Rosalie by Stéphanie Di Giusto, La Ferme des Bertrand by Gilles Perret and La Fille de son père by Erwan Le Duc.

To decide between them, a jury of professionals was specially appointed, headed by actress Clotilde Courau (Last Summer, Le Théorème de Marguerite) and screenwriter Jacques Fieschi (Lost Illusions). The two co-presidents are surrounded by director Claire Simon (Notre Corps), producer François Kraus and François Aymé, cinema operator and honorary president of the AFCAE.

Outside of competition, the public will also be able to discover the biopic Bonnard, Pierre et Marthe during the opening ceremony, the animated film My Friend Robot, the historical drama An Affair of Honor with Roschdy Zem and Doria Tillier, the comedy Iris and men worn by Laure Calamy, or Les Rois de la Piste by Thierry Klifa, among many other films to see in the cinema before their official release!

The festival is also aimed at young people with adapted programming and school sessions for students from CP to final year, with 13 films around the themes of friendship, family, difference, etc. Find here all the information on the feature films screened as part of this event.

Organized by the associations Les Rencontres Cinematographics du Sud and Royan Fait Son Cinéma, this festival takes place in the Le Lido and Le Relais cinemas, in Charente-Maritime. Sessions are exceptionally priced at a single price of €5 per place (except for the opening and closing ceremonies at €6).
