Price adjustment – Charging e-cars will be 65 percent more expensive

Anyone who charges their e-car at the charging stations of Burgenland Energie will have to dig a little deeper into their pockets from now on. Tariffs will be adjusted upwards on June 1st.

Criticism comes from the Greens. “While the electricity prices on the electricity exchange are going down, the state energy supplier is just increasing the prices, by a whopping 65 percent,” says the club’s chairwoman Regina Petrik, venting her anger. While the price of fuel is falling even at the pump, green electricity for climate-friendly mobility is becoming more expensive. Billing per minute In addition, billing is not based on electricity consumption, but on how long the vehicle is plugged in. “The system is unfair because the batteries charge at different speeds depending on the temperature and battery status. A fair billing system is needed here, which has long been technically possible,” says the green energy spokesman Wolfgang Spitzmüller. Prices have not been adjusted for a long time At Burgenland Energie, it is pointed out that the tariffs have not been adjusted for a long time. Against the background of the procurement situation, an increase is unfortunately necessary. If there is an opportunity at a later date, the prices will of course be reduced again. Despite the increase, driving an electric car should remain cheaper than a combustion engine.
