Apple’s new iPad Pro models are said to boast an OLED display. But many fear that the price will also rise immeasurably. A valid concern?
- According to rumors, Apple’s new iPad Pro generation will be officially presented soon.
- Since these come with an OLED display, many fear a drastic price increase.
- According to estimates from technology experts, this will be lower than expected.
The next generation of Apple iPad Pro models shouldn’t be long in coming. Apple has yet to unveil the new iPad Pro devices with OLED displays, but many Apple fans are already asking themselves a question. Does the high-quality OLED display cause a drastic price increase?
Almost a year ago, the Korean website The Elec raised this fear. Among other things, it was reported there that the new 11-inch iPad Pro should cost $1,500 and the 13-inch model should even cost $1,800. That would be the equivalent of just under 1,400 or around 1,675 euros. A price increase of well over 50 percent compared to the current models. The reason for the price forecast is the additional production costs of the new OLED display.
Prices for iPad Pro with OLED display probably not that expensive
But the price shock could not happen, according to the latest assessments by the Taiwanese technology experts at DigiTimes. Compared to the predecessor, you expect a price increase of just around 160 US dollars, for both the 11 and 13-inch versions. That would easily be a few hundred euros less.
If Apple decides to use their M3 chip and OLED displays for their entire iPad Pro lineup, prices should increase by about $160 across the board.
DigiTimes
If that’s true, the new iPad Pro OLED models would each be just under 150 euros more expensive than the current iPad Pro generation, if you take the RRP as a benchmark. Industry experts expect that Apple will introduce the new iPad Pro models with OLED displays next March. Then Apple should also provide clarity regarding the actual prices.
