price, technical sheet, release date… everything we know about Samsung’s next high-end smartphone

[ad_1]

At the beginning of 2025, the Samsung Galaxy S25 and S25 Plus should arrive alongside a very successful Galaxy S25 Ultra. But it is a very expensive high-end smartphone: this is why Samsung often markets a more affordable version in two sizes. Let’s take stock of the rumors around the Galaxy S25.

On January 17, 2024, the Galaxy S24 and Galaxy S24 Plus were released: Samsung’s new high-end smartphones.

At the start of 2025, it should be the same story with the Galaxy S25 and Galaxy S25 Plus. In recent months, a few leaks have gradually revealed details about these next closely monitored Galaxy S.

First of all, know that there has been a hypothesis about the name of the Galaxy S25 Plus. It would be replaced by the Galaxy S25 Pro, in order to better differentiate it from the base model. This is only a fairly unlikely rumor, as the technical sheets of the two models tend to be similar (apart from the battery and the screen).

Design: bigger, not bigger?

The main change in the design of the Galaxy S25 would not be aesthetic, but in size, literally. Samsung would go from 6.2 inches currently to 6.36 inches. Which would take it somewhat out of the compact smartphone market, which is less and less supplied in terms of references.

We already have first renderings of what the two smartphones could look like. According to Onleaks, leaker confirmed, the Galaxy S25 would not change size, or almost: 146.9 x 70.4 and 7.2 mm, compared to 147 x 70.6 x 7.6 mm last year. Which corroborates the statements of Ice Universe, for whom the two smartphones would lose 4 mm in thickness (the Galaxy S25+ would be 7.3 mm thick).

And the screen would still be 6.2 inches diagonal. The screen and back would be flat, with angular edges and rounded corners. At the back, the photo block would have a similar layout: the three lenses aligned vertically, with a more pronounced black rim than on the Galaxy S24.

Screen: no changes on the horizon

For the moment, there are no rumors reporting significant changes to the screens of these Samsung smartphones.

We always want more small functions for the Galaxy S25

The vice-president of Samsung MX, Daniel Araujo, promised a few months ago a “ Hybrid AI » which will use the capabilities of the smartphone as well as the cloud for certain functionalities.

The idea would be to have fast AI functions that will work on the device for common tasks. And for more complex tasks, which require more power to be carried out quickly, the cloud will be used.

Samsung will take the opportunity to strengthen the security and protection of personal data of its Knox system. We also expect update support for 7 years (Android and security), starting from Android 15 with One UI 7, which should arrive in the coming weeks.

Qualcomm, not Qualcomm… It is the question of the chip which is at the center of the rumors around the Galaxy S25. It could in fact be that Samsung will switch to its Exynos 2500 for these two future high-end models. The interest for Samsung would be to better control the supply chain and ultimatelyproduction costs. The manufacturer might even offer some exclusive features. Furthermore, the successor to the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, the Snapdragon 8 Elite (and not the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4) would be much more expensive. Samsung could then choose to only integrate this SoC into the Galaxy S25 Ultra.

Last hypothesis, but much less likely: MediaTek. The founder wants to compete with Qualcomm in the high-end segment, particularly in the United States. He might want to integrate his MediaTek Dimensity 9400 into Samsung’s products.

On the other hand, for Onleaks, Samsung would do well to choose the Snapdragon 8 Elite, worldwide. Samsung would take advantage of this to increase the RAM, abandoning 8 GB for 12 GB, more comfortable and above all very useful for AI uses that work locally. The Galaxy S25+ would remain at 12 GB of RAM.

On the storage side, this would not change: Samsung would still offer 128 or 256 GB of storage for the S25 and 256 or 512 GB for the S25+.

Photography: no changes

The Galaxy S25 and S25+ would be equipped with the same photo sensors:

  • A 50 Mpx main sensor;
  • An ultra-wide-angle sensor;
  • A telephoto lens;
  • A 12 Mpx selfie sensor.

A battery that does not change, but autonomy that could improve

A little more mAh, or not? Here too, we don’t yet really know which foot to dance on. Everything suggests that the manufacturer would not touch the battery capacities of the Galaxy S25 and S25+. 4000 mAh for the first, 4900 mAh for the second.

If it would not increase the size of the batteries, Samsung would consider an artificial intelligence function, for once is not customary. Called Battery AI, this function would increase autonomy by up to 10%. The AI model behind it could eliminate the execution of non-essential tasks.

A charge wouldn’t change

On charging too, Samsung would not make any changes:

  • wired: 25 Watts for the Galaxy S25, 45 Watts for the Galaxy S25+
  • wireless: 10 Watts for both models.

What prices for these Galaxy S25s?

We can logically think that the Galaxy S25/S25+ will cost at least as much as the previous models, which were respectively launched at 899 and 1169 euros.

It would be all the more likely to have an increasing price list in the event that these smartphones include the Snadrapgon 8 Elite. Qualcomm justifies this with higher performance levels. However, we know that this would be due to the fact that Qualcomm would no longer use ARM for the cores of its SoCs.

When will the new Galaxy S be released?

It’s difficult to give a precise date, but everything suggests that Samsung will choose to announce its Galaxy S25 next January, like last year.

In the media agenda, this allows the manufacturer to position itself after the CES in Las Vegas and before the MWC in Barcelona.

Furthermore, several brands announce their new products (notably arrivals on the European market) a little in advance of the MWC.
