Prices have increased – This is how expensive a visit to the car repair shop is now

All cars, whether electric or conventional, have to go to the workshop and have their vehicle inspection carried out. There are different opinions about which type of drive is cheaper in terms of visits to the workshop. One thing is certain: prices have risen again for all of them. And the price differences are immense.

The prices for vehicle stickers, repairs and service for cars and electric cars have “picked up the pace again”, as the Vienna Chamber of Labor humorously summarizes the results of the sample price monitor. Depending on the car brand and workshop, the sticker check can therefore cost up to 80 euros more than elsewhere. The hourly labor cost for repairs differs by up to 178 euros for petrol or diesel cars depending on the brand, type, damage and workshop, and by up to 220 euros for electric cars. Inflation has picked up speed again compared to 2023.Prices for the sticker have risenThe inspection according to Section 57a ​​is generally due annually, except for brand new cars. The cost of the sticker for petrol cars is on average around 87 euros, for diesel cars around 88 euros – depending on the car repair shop and car brand.The AK testers found the most expensive price at just under 135 euros. The cheapest way to check the sticker is for members of the ÖAMTC – 54.50 euros. Members of the ARBÖ pay 63.40 euros. There are also workshops that offer the inspection of the sticker for around 70 euros. The prices for the sticker have increased this year by an average of 7.6 percent for petrol cars and by 6.8 percent for diesel vehicles compared to the previous year.For electric cars, the sticker check including the sticker costs between around 54.50 and 143.52 euros (an average of around 88 euros), depending on the workshop – that’s an increase of 5.6 percent compared to 2023.The Chamber of Labor recommends comparing prices and points out that many authorized workshops also check or repair third-party brands. You should also ask whether the workshop offers the inspection of the sticker for free or at a lower price if you have a service done at the same time. The sample included 16 car brands at 33 Viennese car workshops and car clubs.
