Prime Video: the programs not to miss in September 2022

It’s hard to talk about anything other than Rings of Power this September on Prime Video. However, other programs have caught our eye, including a mysterious horror film with Naomi Watts, Goodnight Mommy.

Not easy for other films and series to be released in the same month as The Rings of Power. With its titanic figures and the disproportionate expectations it arouses, the preceding series The Lord of the Rings in Tolkien’s timeline crushes everything in its path. However, we are curious to discover other programs on Prime Video in September.

There are Goodnight Mommya mysterious family horror film with Naomi Watts, a documentary on the inimitable Guy Roux, the complete series The Office UK, Hero Corp, Animal Kingdom and Nip/Tuck or the movies Ad Astra, Blindness and The carrier — if you prefer something subtle. In short, it’s not just the rings in life.

Event of the month: The Rings of PowerSeptember 2nd

House of the Dragon, Obi-Wan Kenobi, The Sandman… All these series released in 2022 have generated a lot of expectations among the public. But in terms of hype, there is this year a series that caps them all at the post. With its staggering budget — 465 million dollars just for this first season — and the approximately 250 million paid by Amazon for the rights to Tolkien’s work, The Rings of Power is already the most expensive series in history. Its action takes place 5000 years before the events of the Lord of the Rings, at the time of the creation of the 20 Rings of Power. It’s up to the talented Juan Antonio Bayona (The Impossible, A few minutes after midnight) that was entrusted with the realization. The first images suggest an approach similar to that of the Peter Jackson trilogy: majestic characters, grandiose environments, epic stories and political intrigues. Like the film adaptation, the series also chooses a cast little known to the general public. Or how to discover young talents destined to become the stars of tomorrow.

We are curious: Goodnight MommySeptember 16

Two twin brothers return to their mother after she has undergone cosmetic surgery. Problem, the face of the matriarch is completely bandaged, and this one shows a strange behavior, even very worrying. Very quickly, the two boys wonder: is it really their mother who is hiding under these bandages? American remake of an Austrian film, Goodnight Mommy plays the card of family anguish to the full, and recalls in several aspects the chilling The Visit by M.Night Shyamalan. The synopsis intrigues us, but we will also watch it and perhaps especially for the presence in the casting of the always impeccable Naomi Watts, assisted here by the young Cameron Crovetti, seen in particular in The Boys.

We will be happy to see: BlindnessSeptember 1

Film adaptations of literary works are rarely on the level of the original. Blindness does not derogate from this almost immutable rule, but at least has the merit of giving itself a little trouble. It is the Brazilian Fernando Meirelles who is responsible for bringing to the screen the novel by Portuguese Jose Saramago, the only Lusitanian Nobel Prize winner in history. The pitch is simple: a devastating epidemic of blindness is unleashed, blinding men, women and children. They are therefore sent to quarantine. Among them, a woman seems to be immune to the virus. She will live with the spectator the slow dehumanization suffered by the infected, first locked up in a former asylum and then left to fend for themselves in a world in full chaos. A story as fascinating as it is pessimistic about the darkness of the human soul, which seeks to gain the upper hand whatever the situation.

And besides that ?
