Family I hate you

The People We Hate At The Wedding follows America’s most dysfunctional siblings. Alice (Kristen Bell) and Paul (Ben Platt) are guests at the wedding of their estranged sister, Eloise (Cynthia Addai-Robinson who plays Queen Miriel in The Rings of Power) who lives in England.

Since Eloise is super rich and always seems to be one step ahead of them, neither of them wants to go. And it is above all jealousy that seems to motivate their lack of motivation. But they are pushed by their mother, the ever-optimistic Donna (Allison Janney), and find themselves having to attend the perfect wedding in the English countryside.

During the wedding week, the secrets and lies of the siblings are exposed and there is no longer any hiding. Donna hopes the trio can settle their differences and reunite after years of jealousy and resentment. But can they really love each other again like before?

Amazon Prime Video

Not so easy with Alice and Paul who are the kind of people who leave real carnage wherever they go. We can readily say that they make crazy choices. But throughout the film, we see them learn and grow, and face some of their greatest fears through their family relationships.

The People We Hate At The Wedding has fun showing people who make bad choices, but makes the audience understand them and encourage them to improve. This is also what makes the relationship between Alice and Paul really special. Special mention to the couple formed by Allison Janney and Isaach de Bankolé, the separated parents of Eloise, whose chemistry works perfectly.
