Not as expansive as planned, but all the more intimately Prince Alexander zu Schaumburg-Lippe married for the third time.
Prince Alexander zu Schaumburg-Lippe (61) and concert pianist Mahkameh Navabi (39) have known each other since 2013, they have been together since 2016 – and are now married. The couple had a civil marriage in a small circle at Schloss Bückeburg, the headquarters of the Schaumburg-Lippe family. Actually there should have been hundreds of guests, in the end, according to the "Bild" newspaper, there were only 50 due to the corona pandemic.
Church wedding in 2021?
In order to protect the health of those present, all guests "had themselves tested for Corona beforehand, we complied with all safety requirements", Alexander zu Schaumburg-Lippe is quoted as saying. The plan for a church wedding is not off the table, but: "Under the current conditions we would not have a big wedding," the prince continued. "If the situation improves, the church wedding could take place in 2021."
For the prince it is the third marriage, for Navabi the second. That the couple got along well with Schaumburg-Lippe's ex-wife Lilly zu Sayn-Wittgenstein-Berleburg (41) became clear at the civil wedding. Sayn-Wittgenstein-Berleburg acted as one of the maids of honor, their son Heinrich-Donatus (26) was the best man.
