Prince Andrew has been at the center of many scandals these last years. Recently, a new element has emerged concerning his case against Virginia Roberts. Her accuser allegedly confessed that she “maybe made a mistake“, according to DailyMail. Virginia Roberts reportedly confessed to being forced to sleep with US Attorney Alan Dershowitz. In her statement Virginia Roberts had confided that she was very young and that she “was in a very stressful and traumatic environment” when she rubbed shoulders with Jeffrey Epstein. These constraints would then have forced him to wrongly identify attorney Alan Dershowitz. On Tuesday, November 8, Virginia Roberts subscribed a defamation action against Alan Dershowitz without any financial payment being made, according to the outlet.
This twist comes as Virginia Roberts had settled a civil suit with Prince Andrew for the amount of $12 million. Recall that Ms Roberts claimed she was forced to have sex with the Duke of York three times when she was just 17. Something she would have done under duress Jeffrey Epstein. These allegations have, of course, been denied by prince andrew. In any case, this outcome is not necessarily positive for the son of Queen Elizabeth II, who died on September 8. “It is too early to say if her dropping the case against Dershowitz might help Andrew if he tries to rehabilitate his reputation in the future“, had explained Richard Fitzwilliams, expert of the royal family, to MailOnline.
Prince Andrew is not out of the woods yet
The royal expert, Richard Fitzwilliams, had also explained that the situation of Prince Andrew, 62, was still complicated. “He has no public support at this time“underlines this royal expert by adding: “Prince Andrew’s friendship with deceased pedophile Jeffrey Epstein and with convicted sex trafficker Ghislaine Maxwell, his abysmal Newsnight interview and his failure to help the FBI in its investigations to find Epstein’s accomplices led to his resignation from all disgraced royal duties“. To all this must be added the fact that the photo of the prince with Virginia Roberts and Ghislaine Maxwell has never been explained.
Richard Fitzwilliams explains that Virginia Roberts could also write her story on this matter since she did not sign a nondisclosure agreement. Virginia Roberts sued Harvard law professor Alan Dershowitz in New York court for defamation, in 2019. Alan Dershowitz, 84, had represented OJ Simpson and was also an attorney for Epstein. The case between Virginia Roberts and Alan Dershowitz was due to go to trial next year. DailyMail points out that this would have been the first time that Ms Roberts had been questioned about her allegations in court.
