Will Prince Andrew (63) not be able to spend his summer at the Scottish estate Balmoral? As the “Daily Mail” reports, his brother becomes King Charles III. (74) make the summer residence open to visitors two weeks longer than planned. “This will bring significant new revenue to the property,” a source told the newspaper. “However, it could mean that the Duke of York will be upset as he has cherished his time there since childhood.” Because it is exactly during this period that Andrew should usually stay in the residence with ex-wife Sarah Ferguson (63) and the daughters Princess Eugenie (33) and Princess Beatrice (34).

Charles III is to spend his summer holidays first at the Castle of Mey – a Scottish castle formerly owned by his grandmother Queen Mum (1900-2002) – and then move to Birkhall, his home on the Balmoral Estate, waiting for the castle to open to tourists is closed. Balmoral is open to the public every day until August 16, according to the Daily Mail. In theory, Prince Andrew could visit the Aberdeenshire estate later this summer, but he would need to be invited by his brother to do so. Andrew’s mother Queen Elizabeth II (1926-2022) had previously taken over and invited the son to the residence with his family for the summer. From the last weekend in July, she also traditionally stayed there for her summer vacation. The Queen died at Balmoral Castle on September 8, 2022.

dispute over his home

There have previously been reports that Prince Andrew and his ex-wife will have to move out of their home in Windsor, the Royal Lodge. Allegedly, the two should at the request of King Charles III. actually move to the smaller (and cheaper) Frogmore Cottage, where Prince Harry (38) and Duchess Meghan (41) used to live. But the British media said that Andrew opposed the plans and refused to move out. Most recently, the royal family is said to have put all plans on hold to give the Duchess of York, known as “Fergie”, time to recover from breast cancer. Although divorced from Prince Andrew in 1996, she has lived with him in the large house near Windsor Castle since 2003.
