Prince Andrew has long fallen out of favor for his involvement in the Epstein scandal. However, Queen Elizabeth’s son does not seem to have given up hope: he should be sure that his reputation will be rehabilitated.

Prince Andrew, 62, has faced a civil sex abuse lawsuit over his involvement in the scandal surrounding convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, † 66. Since then, its image has suffered considerable damage. As such, it seemed impossible that he would regain popularity, let alone ever return to the service of the Crown. At the end of December 2022, King Charles, 74, is said to have even spoken a word of power and banned him from Buckingham Palace. However, sources are now reporting that Andrew is confident that a development will soon be forthcoming that will restore his reputation.

Queen Elizabeth is said to have made a promise to Prince Andrew

In January 2022, Queen Elizabeth, † 96, stripped Prince Andrew of all military titles and patronage. This included his position as Colonel in the Grenadier Guards, one of the oldest and most iconic regiments in the British Army. As the “Daily Mail” claims to have learned, the 62-year-old now claims within his circle of friends that he has withdrawn from said tasks in the belief that he will take them on again in due course. His mother is said to have assured him of this before the title was withdrawn: “He says that Her Majesty [Queen Elizabeth] gave him her word that his resignation was only a temporary measure.” The Duke of York seems to want to stick to this promise.

This is how he wants to save his image

According to the “Daily Mail”, Andrew spoke to his acquaintances about a development that would save his image. He never regained the “heroic status” he enjoyed as a helicopter pilot in the Falklands War. But he wants to return to the version of himself he was before he was linked to Epstein. “He says details are coming out soon that will change the way people see him,” says a source, adding, “He says that will happen next month.”

It is unclear exactly what details are involved. However, it has been rumored for days that Andrew has consulted with a legal team. The reason: he wanted to overturn the out-of-court settlement he made with his plaintiff Virginia Giuffre, 39. Andrew is trying to get Giuffre – who accuses him of sexually abusing her on several occasions when she was just 17 – to retract her allegations and possibly seek an apology. Whether his plan works remains to be seen.
