Prince Andrew can be seen again in season five of “The Crown”. However, Netflix is said to have problems filling his role.

In season four of “The Crown”, Queen Elizabeth II (95) and Prince Philip (1921-2021) also included her four children Prince Charles (72), Princess Anne (70), Prince Edward (57) and Prince Andrew (61) can be seen. The latter, like his siblings, should reappear in the fifth season of the successful Netflix series. Allegedly, however, the show’s producers are struggling to find a willing actor to play the role of the unpopular Duke of York.

As reported by the British “The Sun”, the production company of the historical drama, Left Bank Pictures, has now advertised the role on the Spotlight job exchange. In the description, the part is touted as “a very good role”, Prince Andrew should be portrayed as a mid-thirties and in his early forties.

Prince Andrew is one of “the most unpopular members of the royal family”

A source from casting circles is said to describe the 61-year-old father of the Queen’s granddaughters Eugenie (31) and Beatrice (32), who fell out of favor especially in the wake of the Epstein scandal, as one of “the most unpopular members of the royal family” to have. Budding screen stars would therefore “not stand in line” to “play him”. The insider also emphasized that the role is not exactly sexy and will probably not start a great Hollywood career. “Anyway, for a real … character actor, it could still work.”

A spokeswoman for “The Crown” said there was “absolutely no difficulty in casting any role in the fifth season”. It is a common practice of series productions to “advertise on Spotlight”.

The job ad shows that Netflix plans to start filming next August. They should then last until January 2022. The production of season six of the hit series is currently planned for 2022 to 2023, “The Sun” also writes.

Season five of “The Crown” focuses on the Queen’s “annus horribilis”

The plot of the new episodes of “The Crown” should cover the years 1991 to 1997. In particular, the year 1992, referred to by the Queen herself as the “annus horribilis” (“terrible year”), should be the focus – also thanks to Prince Andrew. The Duke of York separated from his wife Sarah Ferguson (61) in March of this year. Prince Charles (72) and Princess Diana (1961-1997) also announced their marriage. Also in 1992, Princess Anne (70) divorced her husband Mark Phillips (72). In addition, a fire broke out in November of that year at Windsor Castle, where the Queen lives, which destroyed more than 100 rooms.
