Prince Carl Philip and Princess Sofia have announced the godparents of their youngest son. There is also a cousin among them.
The third son of Prince Carl Philip (42) and Princess Sofia of Sweden (36), Prince Julian Herbert Folke (four months), will be baptized on Saturday (August 14th) in the palace church of Drottningholm in Stockholm.
The guests will according to the palace’s advance notice arrive at the castle at 11 a.m., the baptismal service is celebrated from 12 p.m. The reception afterwards was canceled due to Corona and replaced by a private lunch with the family and the godparents. Unlike Prime Minister Stefan Löfven (64), who will not take part in the ceremony after all, like “Expressen” reports, little Julian’s godparents will of course be there.
The godparents
These were announced on Friday. According to the Swedish newspaper it is the friends Johan and Stina Andersson, Jacob Högfeldt and Frida Vesterberg, the co-founder of Sofia’s charity, and Patrick Sommerlath (50). The latter is a cousin of Carl Philip and the only family member in the group. He is also already one of the godparents of Princess Madeleine (39) eldest daughter, Princess Leonore (7).
Three sons for Carl Philip and Sofia
Prince Carl Philip and Princess Sofia have been married since 2015. They have three sons together, Prince Alexander (5), Prince Gabriel (3) and Prince Julian.
Prince Alexander’s godparents are his aunt, Crown Princess Victoria (44), Sofia’s sister Lina (39), friends Jan Ake Hansson and Cajsa Larsson and Princess Christina’s (78) son Victor Magnuson (40).
Prince Gabriel’s godparents are the other blue-blooded aunt, Princess Madeleine, Sofia’s younger sister Sara (33), friends Carolina Pihl and Oscar Kylberg and his cousin Thomas de Toledo Sommerlath.
Carl Philip is the only son of King Carl XVI. Gustaf (75) and Queen Silvia (77), née Sommerlath, as well as the brother of Crown Princess Victoria and Princess Madeleine. He is fourth in line to the Swedish throne.
