One can no longer imagine Prince Carl Philip without Princess Sofia. But at the age of 18 he met his first love: Wiveka Thott, who admitted that being with a royal was not always easy.
Today, Prince Carl Philip, 42, is a father of three and has been happily in a relationship with Princess Sofia, 37, for more than ten years, almost seven of whom are married. But who was his first love? Before Sofia and his ex-girlfriend Emma Pernald, a good friend of his sister Princess Madeleine, 39, with whom he had been together for ten years, there was another woman who won his heart: Wiveka Thott.
She and Carl Philip fell in love while attending Lundsberg boarding school in Värmland in the 1990s. Decades later, Thott not only has good memories of the relationship with the prince, as she revealed in 2019 to the Swedish tabloid “Expressen”.

When Prince Carl Philip was 18 and Wiveka was 16, they got together. Their relationship lasted about two years. Pictures of their graduation party from the summer of 1999 testify to how in love they were with each other.

“Carl Philip was my first love and you forget it […] not,” Thott recalls in an interview with “Expressen.” She likes to think back to the relationship, which was great, but also a challenge.
Because Wiveka Thott had problems with the media attention that her love for the young member of the Swedish royal family brought with it. She explained, “When I think back to that time in my life, it always occurs to me that this kind of attention bothered me quite a bit. It seemed strange and unnatural to me.”

This is how Carl Philip’s ex-girlfriend lives today
Today, Wiveka is 40 years old and, according to her LinkedIn profile, works as a project and consulting manager at Edument AB, a IT consultancy based in the southern Swedish coastal town Helsingborg has.
Thott is happily forgiven, has how to can be found on their Facebook profilea husband and two young sons – almost like her first love Carl Philip.
