Prince Charles: age, size, king, fortune, Camilla, hidden son… Know everything

Son of Elizabeth II and future king of the United Kingdom, Prince Charles fascinates almost as much as his mother. A look back at a controversial personality whose love life has caused a lot of ink to flow.

  • Prince Charles is the heir to the throne
  • He has a huge fortune
  • The Prince of Wales was able to remarry Camilla Parker Bowles after his divorce from Lady Di

While Queen Elizabeth II is Britain’s most famous personality, the rest of her family is also center stage and their lives, like the Queen’s, are constantly scrutinized by journalists as by the public. Despite a strict protocol and rules supposed to avoid any scandal around the royal family, several members have already been at the heart of major controversies, and in particular Prince Charles and his stories of the heart with Princess Diana and Camilla Parker Bowles. Back on the busy life of the one who will succeed the Queen of England.

How old is Prince Charles?

The eldest son of Queen Elizabeth II was born on November 14, 1948 at Buckingham Palace in Westminster, London. He is therefore 73 years old. His full name is Charles Philip Arthur George. Prince Charles has several siblings: Princess Anne, 71, Prince Andrew, 62, and Prince Edward, 58.

What is Prince Charles’ title?

Prince Charles is the crown prince of the United Kingdom, and this since February 6, 1952. Why this date? Quite simply because it was on February 6, 1952 that Elizabeth was crowned to become Queen Elizabeth II. His accession therefore immediately made Charles, his eldest son, the heir to the throne. In addition to this title which makes him the successor of the Queen of England, Prince Charles is also Prince of Wales, Duke of Cornwall, Duke of Rothesay and Duke of Edinburgh. He also has other lesser known titles such as Earl of Chester, Baron of Renfrew or Lord of the Isles.

How wealthy is Prince Charles?

The fortune of Queen Elizabeth II is a big topic of discussion for the British, but she is not the only one with an important heritage. More discreet about his possessions, Prince Charles has, for years, been able to place his money where it was needed to make it grow effectively. The Prince of Wales would have a fortune of more than 300 million euros. Within this fortune, it is the Duchy of Cornwall that brings him the most, in particular thanks to the many developments that Prince Charles has had there. In 2021, the duchy alone brought in 27 million euros. Enough to comfort the eldest of the Queen of England in his investments which guarantee him a future free from any financial problem…

The height of Prince Charles and the controversies surrounding it

Many people have questions about the height of Prince Charles. It must be said that, like his love life, his height has been the subject of much speculation and has even found himself the target of several theories. Prince Charles is 1m78 tall. Only in many photos taken with Princess Diana, the eldest of Elizabeth II appears taller than his wife … who is also 1m78 tall. The discrepancy between the photos of the couple and the real situation disturbed more than one person who had the pleasure and the honor of meeting Prince Charles and Lady Di “in real life”. But then why does the Prince of Wales appear taller than his wife? Simply because the palace wanted to control the image they sent to the world through these photos. It therefore happened that, during official photo shoots, the prince climbed on a kind of box which made him gain several centimeters. By appearing taller, not only was Prince Charles’ ego protected, but he could also come across as the couple’s protector, the tall, strong man who protects his wife. A sexist and outdated vision of things that never resisted, in any case, a real meeting with the couple.

The story between Prince Charles, Lady Diana and Camilla Parker-Bowles

If Prince Charles has been talked about more than the other children of Queen Elizabeth II, it is in particular because of his tumultuous history with Lady Di. The two young people met officially in July 1980, duringan event organized for the specific purpose of bringing them together and to make them a model couple for the royal family. Diana Spencer indeed ticks all the boxes of the perfect wife for a prince: from an aristocratic background, single and Protestant. After less than fifteen “dates” during which Charles and Diana can get to know each other, the engagement was announced on February 24, 1981. Only neither of them are really convinced by this marriage, Prince Charles because of the feelings he has for Camilla Parker Bowles, and Diana because she knows that her future husband loves another.

Despite their reservations, they will find themselves married in front of the whole world during a ceremony which took place on July 29, 1981 at St. Paul’s Cathedral in London. Diana Spencer was then barely 20 years old and becomes Her Royal Highness The Princess of Wales. This arranged marriage, marked by liaisons between the two spouses which ended up being made public, ended in tragedy. After the births of Prince William on June 21, 1982 and Prince Harry on September 15, 1984, the gap is widening within the couple and the 12-year gap between them ends up separating them. The divorce was finalized on August 28, 1996 and it was almost a year later to the day, on August 31, 1997, that Princess Diana died in the infamous Pont de l’Alma car accident in Paris.

Throughout his relationship with Lady Diana, Prince Charles had another woman in mind: Camilla Shand. It was in 1971 that Prince Charles and Camilla Shand would have met and would have, from there, developed a strong friendship and then a romantic relationship. Despite feelings clearly reciprocated and known to all their close friends, the story ends abruptly in 1973 when Prince Charles joins the Royal Navy for his military service. The engagement of Camilla and Andrew Parker Bowles, with whom she has had a discontinuous relationship for several years, is then announced, shattering the hopes of Prince Charles.

The engagement of Camilla Parker Bowles, however, did not put an end to his relationship with the eldest son of Elizabeth II since they remained very close in the following years. Their relationship also quickly resumed. However, it was not until February 10, 2005 that the engagement between Prince Charles and Camilla Parker Bowles was announced, and it was on April 9 that the lifelong lovers were finally able to marry.

The hidden son of Prince Charles and Camilla

Now 75, Camilla has been married to Prince Charles for more than 17 years, although their love goes back much longer. So long, moreover, that rumors have been swirling about a possible hidden son of the couple… A man, Simon Dorante-Day, has been claiming for years now to be the son of Prince Charles and Camilla Parker Bowles. According to him, it was conceived in the summer of 1965 when the Prince of Wales was just 16 and Camilla was between 17 and 18.

Simon Dorante-Day maintains that he was born on April 5, 1966, in England. He was adopted at the age of 8 months by a couple, Karen and David Day. Also according to him, his grandparents Winifred and Ernest Bowlden both worked in the service of Prince Philip and Queen Elizabeth II in one of the royal residences. It was therefore Simon’s grandmother, Winifred, who told him many times that he was the son of Camilla and Charles. He puts forward as proof the fact that a few months before his birth, Camilla disappeared from public life for at least 9 months while Charles was sent to Australia.

So it’s been years since Simon Dorante-Day Tried unsuccessfully to get a DNA test to those he designates as his biological parents. If it turns out that he is really the son of Charles and Camilla, the stakes would be high since as the eldest son of Prince Charles, he would become heir to the throne before William.
