Prince Charles and Duchess Camilla: 15 years married: the couple shares a new portrait photo

Spending the wedding day together almost fell into the water this year: until Monday, Prince Charles (71) and Duchess Camilla (72) were still separated from each other in corona-related self-isolation. But just in time for the 15th anniversary, the two came back together. For their day of honor on Thursday, April 9th, the Clarence House shared a new portrait of the two with the fans – even the two dogs Bluebell and Beth were allowed to take a picture.

The photo was taken early Wednesday morning on the Scottish Birkhall estate, the country home of the two – the Prince of Wales looks cured and recovered from Corona. The couple is more casual than usual: the Duchess in blue denim jeans, pullovers and boots, Prince Charles in an unbuttoned shirt, jacket, corduroy trousers and loafers.

Married for 15 years: the complicated relationship between Camilla and Charles

The couple have a complicated story. Hardly anyone would have thought 50 years ago that they would make it to 15 years of marriage. In 1970 the two met for the first time in a polo match and fell in love. But a real relationship shouldn't be at first. Three years later, the then 25-year-old Camilla Shand married Andrew Parker-Bowles, who was seven years older. Prince Charles married Diana Spencer (1991-1997) eight years later …

But the contact between Camilla and Charles is said to have never been broken. According to the Prince of Wales's biography, the two started an affair as early as 1986, and in the early 1990s, techtechmechtel even became public. In 1995 Camilla finally divorced her husband, in 1996 the divorce from Charles and Princess Diana went through. In the following years, Camilla and Charles become a couple, but the Queen (93) initially does not accept the relationship. It was not until 2003 that the two were allowed to move into Clarence House together, followed by the civil wedding on April 9, 2005 – 35 years after their first meeting.
