Prince Charles first made a public appearance on the birth of his granddaughter Lilibet Diana.

Prince Charles (72) visited a car factory in Oxford on Tuesday (June 8th) and included a reaction to the birth of his granddaughter Lilibet Diana Mountbatten-Windsor in his speech. The daughter of Prince Harry, 36, and Duchess Meghan, 39, was born on June 4th at Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital, California. Prince Harry’s father explained in his address: “The development of technologies such as electric vehicles is of great importance when it comes to the health of our world for future generations – which I am all too aware today, having recently become a grandfather for the fifth time.”

The 72-year-old added: “This very good news is a real reminder of the need for further innovation in this area – particularly in the area of ​​sustainable battery technology – given the legacy we want to leave our grandchildren.” Lilibet is the second child for Harry and Meghan. Harry’s brother Prince William (38) and his wife Duchess Kate (39) also have children Prince George (7), Princess Charlotte (6) and Prince Louis (3).

Lilibet is the nickname of Harry’s grandmother, with whom she was primarily addressed by her late husband Prince Philip (1921-2021). The middle name Diana is also used to honor the deceased grandmother of the newborn.
