Prince Charles: His sons made planning a family photo difficult

In a family photo of Prince Charles 70, the Windsors look happy. According to the new book "Finding Freedom", however, appearances are deceptive.

On the occasion of the 70th birthday of Prince Charles (71), his office published a new family photo in 2018. He and his descendants appear carefree and happy. If you believe what is in the new book "Finding Freedom: Harry, Meghan, and the Making of a Modern Royal Family", appearances are vastly deceptive. The planning of the royal snapshot is said to have been an "absolute nightmare" for the photographer, as the British "Daily Mail" reports.

In the said photo, the British heir to the throne and his wife, Duchess Camilla (73), are sitting on a bench in the garden of their Clarence House estate. Prince George (7) sits on Charles' knee, next to Camilla Princess Charlotte (5). Behind the jubilee are Prince William (38) and Duchess Kate (38), who is holding the then six-month-old Prince Louis (2) in her arms, as well as William's brother Prince Harry (35) and Duchess Meghan (39).

Did William and Harry stand across?

The organization of the photo session is said to have driven Royal photographer Chris Jackson to the edge of madness, in the book it is even described as a "nightmare". It is said that the two sons of Prince Charles are mainly to blame for this. Neither Prince William nor Prince Harry had really tried to give the appointment time, says the book by Omid Scobie and Carolyn Durand. The prince's relationship with their father – especially that between Charles and Harry – has been said to have been difficult for a long time, the work also claims.

Why are Harry and Meghan doing so well on Finding Freedom?

The book "Finding Freedom", which appeared on Tuesday (August 11th) and contains a lot of new information about the so-called "Megxit", is viewed with skepticism by observers according to the British newspaper. The reason given is the consistently positive view of the Sussex couple, who announced their retirement as senior royals in January 2020 and since then first moved to Canada and then to the USA.

The two authors present intimate details about the relationship and inner thoughts of Harry and Meghan in their work. The Sussexes themselves claim, however, that Scobie and Durand have neither given an interview nor in any other way influenced the content.
