Selfie with consequences! Henry Frömmichen actually wanted to be a priest. But after he published a selfie on Instagram, he was kicked out of the Munich seminary.
It all started with a harmless snapshot. When Henry Frömmichen was out in the center of Munich last winter, he happened to meet Alexander Schäfer, known as “Prince Charming” from the dating show of the same name for school men – and asked him for a photo. Unsuspecting, he posts it on Instagram. Then the shock!
Henry Frömmichen is kicked out of the Munich seminary. The official justification said: His use of social media shows that he currently does not have the appropriate qualifications for training as a priest. For Henry Frömmichen this was the bitter realization about the double standards of the church: Homosexuality is okay – as long as it is not exposed to the outside world.
Pious had a big dream
The 21-year-old had only started his apprenticeship three months earlier. He even gave up his job as an undertaker and ended his long-term relationship with his friend. Then after only a short time the setback! The irony, he announces on his Instagram page: “I haven’t seen a single episode of ‘Prince Charming’. Which is also quite funny: everyone around me saw it, including those in the seminary, except me.” Still, it hit him.
Today he is grateful for it
Pious had deleted the picture after being thrown out, but posted it again in January: “I would never have thought in my life that the encounter with Alexander would have such great and far-reaching consequences for my life. Today he wants to continue fighting for the cause of his heart: the acceptance of queer people in the church.

Henry Frömmichen did not want to leave the church after the event. Even if only “hollow shit” comes from Rome, as he says in the video. Rather, it is about the passion that his faith gives him and that he wants to pass on to his fellow men.
