Prince Daniel
Secret project? Hof tries to explain his absence from the event
On May 21, 2024, Princess Victoria had to attend the Polar Music Prize ceremony in Stockholm without her husband Prince Daniel – for the second time in a row. The reason? Enigmatic. Despite a statement from the court.
In need of explanation? Court comments on Prince Daniel’s absence
“Unfortunately, Prince Daniel will not be able to attend this year’s Polar Prize ceremony. The reason for this is a program clash with another assignment that the Court will update in the calendar shortly,” the Court’s information manager, Margareta Thorgren, told the Swedish newspapers “Svensk Damtidning” and “Hänt” shortly before the event. Thorgren further stressed: “Prince Daniel, as planned for some time, has other commitments tomorrow within Princess Estelle’s Cultural Foundation and will therefore not be present at the Polar Prize ceremony.”
No appointments in the royal calendar
A scheduling conflict as an explanation for Daniel’s renewed absence from the Polar Music Prize award ceremony sounds plausible, but a look at the royal calendar of the Swedish royal family raises suspicions: The prince’s last appointment – a meeting of his foundation Prins Daniels Fellowship – is scheduled for Monday, May 20th, and according to the official schedule, the 50-year-old had no commitments on the day of the award ceremony (as of May 22nd, 10 a.m.).
Why the Swedish calendar has not been updated as Margareta Thorgren previously announced raises questions. Is the prince working behind the scenes on a secret project for his daughter’s cultural foundation? Conjectures that Daniel will surely resolve in the near future in order to be able to clearly prove his previously mysterious absence.
