Prince Edward and Duchess Sophie: The British royal family helps clean the beach

Prince Edward, his wife, Duchess Sophie, and their two children use the weekend to clean up rubbish on a Portsmouth beach.

Prince Edward (56) and his wife (since 1999), Duchess Sophie von Wessex (55), sometimes get dirty for a good cause. Together with their two children, Princess Louise (16) and Prince James Mountbatten-Windsor (12), they collected rubbish on Southsea Beach in Portsmouth in the county of Hampshire on Sunday. The royals posted photos and a video clip of them on the official Instagram account of the British royal family.

Their commitment therefore took place within the framework of the volunteer campaign "The Great British Beach Clean" (Ger. "The Great British Beach Cleanup"), which is carried out annually by the Marine Conservation Society. The collected garbage is then examined and documented.

Prince Edward is the youngest son of Queen Elizabeth II (94) and Prince Philip (99).
