Prince Edward and his wife Sophie do not want to have heard of Prince Harry’s scandalous interview with Oprah Winfrey.
Who is Oprah Winfrey, 67? Prince Edward (57) and his wife Sophie (56), Countess of Wessex, responded in an interview with “The Telegraph Magazine” with a joke when asked whether they were watching the TV interview with Prince Harry (36) and Duchess Meghan (39) with talk show legend Winfrey. The youngest son of Queen Elizabeth II (95) and his wife also spoke about the moving farewell party for Edward’s father Prince Philip (1921-2021) in April. Sophie revealed how “nice” it was that she was able to have a long conversation with Harry after the service at Windsor Castle.
When asked if they had seen the interview with Oprah Winfrey, Prince Edward replied with a smile, according to The Telegraph: “Oprah who?” His wife added with a laugh: “Yes, which interview?” At another point in the conversation, Sophie, who has been married to the Queen’s son since 1999, said about the royal family: “We are still a family, no matter what, we always will be.”
Much fuss after TV appearance
In March, Prince Harry and his wife, Duchess Meghan, caused a stir with the TV interview with Oprah Winfrey. In the conversation, the Sussexes made serious accusations against the royals, there was talk of racism within the royal family. The Queen then initiated an internal family investigation into the allegations and issued a statement saying that Harry and Meghan remained “loved” family members. Harry and Meghan have lived in California with their son Archie, 2, for about a year. The couple, who have been married since 2018, are expecting their second child in early summer.
