For the past few years, Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis have followed a tradition in memory of Lady Diana.
Prince William’s children send a letter to their late grandmother.
Each letter is addressed to “Mamie Diana”.
On August 31, 1997, the world learned with horror of the death of Lady Diana, victim of a car accident while she was staying in Paris with her companion at the time, Dodi Al-Fayed. In disappearing, the Princess of Wales left behind her two sons: Prince William, then 15 years old, and Prince Harry, 12 years old. A particularly difficult ordeal for the two teenagers, who had to learn to build themselves without the support of their mother.
Twenty-five years later, William and Harry have founded their own family, but they do not forget the one who loved them so much. Very attached to the memory of their mother, the two princes very often speak of her to their children. Prince William, Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis have even set up a tender tradition to honor the memory of Lady Di: every year, for Mother’s Day, the little heirs write a letter to their late grandmother.
“Dear Granny Diana”
In 2020, the eldest son of the Princess of Wales had shared the content of these letters on his Twitter account. “Dear Granny Dianacould we read on that of Princess Charlotte, an adorable pink card covered with a multicolored heart and stickers. I’m thinking of you on this Mother’s Day. I love you so much. Dad misses you. Much love, Charlotte.” For his part, Prince George wrote:Dear Grandma Diana, Happy Mother’s Day. I love you very much and think about you all the time, sending you lots of love, George.” Prince Louis, then 2 years old, had meanwhile colored a pretty green card. Adorable little attentions, which today allow Lady Di to keep a place in her son’s family.
