Prince George lends a hand to his grandfather at King Charles’ coronation. Together with seven other boys, he becomes one of the pages.

Prince George (9) will be at the coronation of his grandfather King Charles III. (74) on May 6th at Westminster Abbey in London. This was announced by Buckingham Palace. The eldest son of Prince William (40) and Princess Kate (41) will be one of a total of eight male page honours, who will assist the royal couple.

“It will be an incredibly special moment,” said a statement from Kensington Palace. William and Kate said through their rep that “everyone is very excited” about George’s scheduled appearance. As the “Daily Mail” further reports, the Prince and Princess of Wales were touched that the King wanted to give their son such an important role. At the same time, however, they wanted to make sure that George was up to the task. Through discussions with George, they were finally convinced.

George will be helping his grandfather along with Lord Oliver Cholmondeley (13), Nicholas Barcley (13) and Ralph Tollemache (12). Cholmondeley is the son of a former high official, Barcley is the grandson of Camilla’s official companion, and Tollmache is the son of Charles’ godson Edward van Cutsem.

Queen Camilla (75), on the other hand, is supported by her grandchildren Gus and Louis Lopes (13), as well as Freddy Parker Bowles (12) and her grandnephew Arthur Elliot (11). The Pages of Honor will hold the Queen’s and King’s robes during the two-and-a-half-hour ceremony. A total of 2,000 guests are expected in London for the actual celebration. The invitations will be sent out in the next two weeks.
