His son was baptized at Berleburg Castle
Prince Gustav and Princess Carina zu Sayn-Wittgenstein-Berleburg celebrated the christening of their son.

The son of Prince Gustav and Princess Carina zu Sayn-Wittgenstein-Berleburg was christened. Among the godparents is a Danish royal.
Gustav Prince zu Sayn-Wittgenstein-Berleburg (54), nephew of Queen Margrethe II (83), and his wife, Princess Carina zu-Sayn-Wittgenstein-Berleburg (55), celebrated their son’s christening this Saturday. “Prince Gustav Albrecht zu Sayn-Wittgenstein-Berleburg was baptized today in the chapel at Berleburg Castle,” it says on the official Instagram account of the Danish royal family. Several pictures of the christening show the guests at the christening, the beaming parents and Prince Gustav Albrecht in his christening robes.
The post also revealed that the prince had six godparents, including Prince Christian, 17, son of Crown Prince Frederik, 55, and Crown Princess Mary, 51. “In addition to Prince Christian, the royal family and the crown prince couple and the grandmother of the baptized child, Her Royal Highness Princess Benedikte, were present at the christening,” it is finally explained.
Son was born via surrogate mother
was at the end of May in an Instagram post announced that the baby was born on Friday 26 May. “The newborn prince was born in the United States with the help of a surrogate mother. Both Prince Gustav and Princess Carina were present at the birth.” It was also explained: “Prince Gustav is the son of Her Royal Highness Princess Benedikte and Prince Richard, and the little prince is Princess Benedikte’s fifth grandchild.” Benedikte zu Denmark (79) is the sister of Queen Margrethe II.
The couple has been in a relationship since 2003 and married since 2022. The marriage to the American children’s author followed a long legal battle for Prince Gustav. A clause in his grandfather’s will initially prevented the marriage. In April, the couple announced they were expecting a child via surrogate.
