CBS secured the broadcast rights to the eagerly anticipated Harry Meghan interview. The station is said to have paid that much for it.

On Sunday evening (March 7), the US broadcaster CBS will broadcast the eagerly awaited interview between Prince Harry (36) and Duchess Maghan (39) with talk queen Oprah Winfrey (67). The transmission rights for the two-hour interview are said to have cost the station between seven and nine million US dollars, as the "Wall Street Journal" reports.

Accordingly, the TV network is said to have acquired the rights from Oprah Winfrey's production company "Harpo Productions" and thus also the license rights for the international market. However, CBS should earn the amount spent again quickly: Because the station allegedly charges $ 325,000 (about 273,000 euros) for 30 seconds of advertising time during the interview.

Prince Harry and Duchess Meghan are said to have not been paid for the interview, a spokesman for the couple confirmed to the WSJ.

Here comes the interview in Germany

While CBS will broadcast the interview on Sunday evening (March 7th) at 8 p.m. local time, German viewers will have to wait a few more hours. On Monday (March 8th) RTL will show the interview as part of a three-hour "Exklusiv Spezial" from 3 pm. From 10:15 pm it can be seen again in a "Prominent Special" on VOX. The two specials are also available in full on TVNow in this country.

It is not known how much the German TV stations paid for the broadcasting rights. In Great Britain, the private broadcaster ITV is said to have paid around one million pounds, the equivalent of around 1.16 million euros, to CBS.
