Oprah Winfrey's interview with Meghan and Harry turns into a TV event. In the US alone, millions of people tuned into TV.

For the US television network CBS, the interview by Prince Harry (36) and Duchess Meghan (39) with talk icon Oprah Winfrey (67, "What I've learned from life") is a hit. On TV alone, around 17.1 million US viewers tuned in, according to preliminary data from the market research company Nielsen. Digital alternatives are not yet included here. According to Forbes, the interview is the most watched entertainment special in the US since the Academy Awards in February 2020.

It was announced in advance that the conversation would become an international TV event. According to media reports, the production was and is being broadcast in almost 70 countries worldwide, including in Germany on RTL and VOX (also on TVNow).

Get into the trends

Harry and Meghan's interview also dominated social media. According to a report in Entertainment Weekly magazine, the word "Meghan" trended for twelve hours in the US, as did "#OprahMeganHarry" and "Archie," the name of the couple's son. In Germany, the hashtag "#HarryandMeghanonOprah" was trending on Twitter on the evening of the broadcast.
