Prince Harry and Duchess Meghan: money paid back for Frogmore Cottage renovation

Thanks to Netflix? Prince Harry and Duchess Meghan have paid for the cost of renovating their Frogmore Cottage, according to a report.

When Prince Harry (35) and Duchess Meghan (39, "Suits") announced at the beginning of the year that they wanted to turn their royal backs on the British royal family, they also announced something else: the 2.4 million British pounds (about 2 , 7 million euros) in taxpayers' money spent on renovating their home called Frogmore Cottage to be repaid in full. And that is exactly what has happened in the meantime, according to a report in the New York Times.

In a statement, a spokesman for the couple said: "The Duke of Sussex (Harry) has made a contribution to the Sovereign Grant. This amount, as originally offered by Prince Harry, covers the full cost of the necessary renovations to Frogmore Cottage." The property will continue to function as the residence of Prince Harry and his family in England, it said.

That news comes just days after it became known that the couple had struck a lucrative deal with streaming provider Netflix. The cooperation between Harry and Meghan could bring in up to 150 million US dollars (about 127 million euros), it is reported. One thing seems clear: the couple has now achieved the financial independence they are striving for.
