Prince Harry and Duchess Meghan clearly criticize the British royal family. But they have only warm words for Queen Elizabeth II.

Prince Harry (36) and Duchess Meghan (39) tell in a CBS interview with Oprah Winfrey (67) about dramatic incidents during their time at the British court. But one person was expressly not involved in any of this. "The Queen was always wonderful to me," Duchess Meghan recalls in an interview with the US talk show host.

First appointment together

Then Duchess Meghan tells about her first public appearance with Queen Elizabeth II (94), to which she had invited her husband's grandmother. In June 2018 they inaugurated the Mersey Gateway Bridge over the River Mersey, which connects the cities of Runcorn and Widnes in north-west England.

The morning before the appointment, the two women had breakfast together. In addition, Meghan got a "nice present" from the queen. "I really enjoyed being in their company," she sums up. "There is the family and there are those who run the institution. Those are two different things," explains the native American. "It's important to make a distinction," she added.

Prince Harry is "hurt", but …

Prince Harry admits in a double interview that he was "injured" because the Queen had completely withdrawn his royal patronage from him, but he also insists that he "fully respects" her decision. The American by choice said that he would continue to support these organizations even without the title or role.

Prince Harry and Duchess Meghan married in May 2018. They have not worked for the British Crown for a year and live with their son in California. A daughter is to be added in the summer.
