Prince Harry and Duchess Meghan: Prince Charles reaches deep into their pockets for their protection

Frogmore Cottage, which Prince Harry (35) and Duchess Meghan (38) want to continue to use as their British home, has been renovated for the proud sum of £ 2.4m (around € 2.7m). When the couple announced their retirement from the crown's duties, they also said they would pay these costs back to English taxpayers. According to the British "Sun", the two have now started, but because they have had to pay for their personal protection since moving to North America, it will take a long time to settle the debt. For it to work at all, Prince Charles (71) apparently has to step in financially.

Prince Charles takes over the bill

According to this, the Sussexes spend up to four million pounds (4.5 million euros) a year on their security personnel. In addition, there are the maintenance costs for her Hollywood residence and Frogmore Cottage in west London.

The couple had not expected this multiple burden, which is why Prince Harry asked his father Prince Charles to pay the costs. And apparently he said "yes". The sobering result for the two Hollywood newbies: they stutter their debts at £ 18,000 a month, part of which is said to cover ongoing maintenance. Accordingly, it would take over eleven years for the debt to be settled.
