Prince Harry and Duchess Meghan
The two have never been so unpopular
A new poll shows: Prince Harry and Duchess Meghan are less popular with the British than ever after their appearance on Oprah Winfrey.
The fact that Prince Harry (36) and Duchess Meghan (39) complain about their royal relatives on US TV apparently does not go down well with the British. According to a new poll, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex's popularity ratings have dropped to their lowest level ever after their interview with Oprah Winfrey, 67, last Sunday.
The YouGov poll shows that Prince Harry's popularity has fallen 15 points since the Oprah interview aired. 45 percent of the British currently have a positive opinion of him, 48 percent gave him a negative rating. Meghan's popularity has therefore decreased by 13 points. Currently, only about a third (31 percent) of respondents have a positive opinion of the Duchess of Sussex, while 58 percent rate her negatively. Only younger respondents see it differently. Among the 18- to 24-year-olds, three out of five respondents said they like Harry, 55 percent say Meghan.
The Queen remains popular
Queen Elizabeth II (94) does not seem to have harmed the Sussexes' TV appearance, in which, among other things, they raised allegations of racism against an unnamed member of the Royals. According to the survey, four out of five of the people surveyed like the monarch. Prince Charles' (72) popularity, according to "YouGov", has declined since the interview was broadcast. 42 percent now have a negative opinion of the Prince of Wales – up from 36 percent on March 2nd. He is still popular with 49 percent.
While Meghan and Harry did not criticize the Queen and Prince Philip (99) in the interview, they chatted some unpleasant things about Charles, Prince William (38) and his wife Duchess Kate (39). About his relationship with his brother William, Harry stated that they were "on different paths". Among other things, Meghan revealed details of disputes with Kate, which is said to have made Meghan cry. It doesn't seem to hurt William and Kate. According to the survey, the two are very popular with around three-quarters of Britons. The least popular is Prince Andrew (61), who was involved in the sex offender Jeffrey Epstein (1953-2019) scandal, 82 percent of those surveyed do not like the Queen's son.
