Eight months ago Harry and Meghan set up their "Archewell" foundation. Now they have announced their first project.

Prince Harry (36) and Duchess Meghan (39) will set up aid centers through their charitable "Archewell" foundation together with "World Central Kitchen". These are supposed to provide people in disaster areas with food. The first confirmed "Archewell" project announced the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, according to "Bloomberg" on Sunday.

"World Central Kitchen" was founded by the Spanish-American chef José Andrés (51). Through the cooperation with "Archewell" new aid centers of the organization are to be established. The facilities should be able to go into operation in crises, such as after natural disasters, in order to "function as kitchens that are activated quickly," says the project. Outside of times of crisis, the facilities are intended to support local people by turning them into "community centers, schools and clinics".

Four centers planned

It is not known how much money Harry and Meghans Foundation uses to support the project. José Andrés founded "World Central Kitchen" in 2010 after the devastating earthquake in Haiti. The organization has since distributed more than 50 million meals, including in Puerto Rico after Hurricane Maria and to survivors of the California fire disasters.

According to Bloomberg, a statement from Prince Harry and Duchess Meghan reads: "When we think of Chef Andrés and his incredible team at World Central Kitchen, we are reminded that even in a year of unimaginable need there are so many wonderful people who work tirelessly to support others. " The first of the four planned centers will be built in Dominica, an island nation in the Caribbean. The opening is scheduled for the beginning of 2021. The second will be in Puerto Rico. The other two locations were not disclosed.
