Hope for a royal return of Prince Harry and Duchess Meghan is shattered. The royal family announced this decision.

Until recently, there had been considerations as to whether Prince Harry (36) and Duchess Meghan (39) could return to their duties as members of the British royal family after their resignation as active royals. But the Duke and Duchess of Sussex have finally put a stop to this step, as Buckingham Palace announced in a press release. The couple have therefore "confirmed to Her Majesty the Queen not to return as active members of the royal family."

It was therefore agreed that the "Megxit" made it impossible for the two of them to continue to carry the "responsibilities and duties that come with a life in the service of the public." Thus they lose their patronage and Prince Harry his military dignity, for which he was reportedly fought to the end. These now go back to Queen Elizabeth II (94).

The statement goes on to say: "While everyone is saddened by their decision, the Duke and Duchess remain dearly loved members of the family." After the joint decision to leave the royal family as active members and move to the USA with son Archie, it was decided to reassess the situation after twelve months. This has now officially happened immediately after the announcement that the couple is expecting a second child.
