Prince Harry at church service in London: Royals celebrate garden party

Only a few kilometers apart and still no meeting: While Prince Harry, 39, was in London this Wednesday (May 8th) for the anniversary service of his Invictus Games, his father, King Charles III, 75, celebrated together with numerous family members a garden party at Buckingham Palace.

No meeting between Harry and Charles

Prince Harry appeared alone but still in a good mood when he arrived at St. Paul’s Cathedral in London. The royal diligently waved to the fans waiting in front of the church as he ran up the stairs.

Harry has been in his old home since May 7th, but apparently he will not meet his father during the visit. A spokesman for the 39-year-old explained, a meeting was not possible due to the monarch’s busy schedule. But Harry hopes to see his father “soon”.

Royals prefer to celebrate at garden parties

While Prince Harry attended the service to mark the tenth anniversary of the Invictus Games, which he founded, Charles received numerous guests from the public at Buckingham Palace on Wednesday afternoon, just around three kilometers from St. Paul’s Cathedral – a decades-long tradition of the Royal Family .

In addition to his wife Queen Camilla, 76, Prince Edward, 60, and Duchess Sophie, 59, Princess Anne, 73, as well as the Duke and Duchess of Gloucester were there. Prince William, 41, and Princess Kate, 42, were missing according to the Daily Mail as the only working royals. Officially, the garden party lasted until 6 p.m. (local time) – too late to attend Harry’s church service. Because it started at 5 p.m.

But Prince Harry didn’t have to completely forego family support at his church service: Charles Spencer, 59, the brother of his late mother Diana (1961-1997), also attended the mass.
