Prince Harry at war with the English tabloids: he is sentenced to a big fine!

A lost affair. Prince Harry is no stranger to lawsuits against British newspapers. The last one on the list concerned an article published by the Mail on Sunday related to his police protection when he goes to the United Kingdom. The article published in February 2022 accused, wrongly according to the Duke of Sussex’s lawyers, the crowned head who left to live in Montecito of having “lied” and to have “tried to keep it a secret” his recourse against the government in an attempt to obtain police protection in the country.

The outcome of this affair was inglorious. for the husband of Meghan Markle, who according to our colleagues at Parisian has been forced by British justice to pay 48,447 pounds sterling by December 29.

Prince Harry: his standoff with British justice

Some people may not know it but the Duke of Sussex contested the end of the systematic management of his security when he is in the United Kingdom. As a reminder, when the youngest son of King Charles III and his wife Meghan Markle decided to withdraw from the royal family in 2020 and settle in the United States, they have lost this systematic protection of the police, granted at the expense of the British taxpayer. William’s brother’s appeal against the Interior Ministry therefore concerns a decision taken more than three years ago. At the time, the ministry decided to grant the crowned head police protection on a case-by-case basis. His lawyer Shaheed Fatima said Prince Harry was “less favorably treated” than other members of the Crown and that he should have security for his visits to the United Kingdom. After the hearing which was held over three days, the decision was reserved.
